How would i achieve a puddle, similar to the picture below?
Thanks again
Re: Puddles
maybe this will work, i dont know.
Re: Puddles
You can also use reflection maps. Go to the Arroway textures website and look at http://www.arroway-textures.com/en/products/tiles-1/contents texture to see this effect. Texture is on page 5 called Tiles 069 Puddles.

Re: Puddles
Hi
This is a material with reflection in some areas and without reflection in others areas. The way how you control the reflection in VfSU is using colors. Black mean NO reflection and white mean reflection. If you use one grayscale image with your desired water areas you can make this effect.
1. Add a reflection layer.
2. click on the “m” near reflection ans select “fresnel” for the mapping
3. add a grayscale texture on the “m” near perpendicular color. This is to control the ares with and without reflection
4. you have to change the repeat option for this texture to reach your desired scale.
5. increase the IOR value to 1or 20. This is to achieve a very reflective water
6. on the diffuse layer, apply the brick texture.
Optionals
7. on the displacement slot, you can use a blurry version of the texture that you use on the reflection to add depth to your water.
8. Use a brick bump texture on the “Bump” slot if you want to make a more realistic material.

Re: Puddles
hi, what do you mean by apply a greyscale texture??
Re: Puddles
This type of images. In fact this image is the one I used.
