Don’t know if this is the right place to ask this question. I’ve sent an email to ASGVIS but no answer yet. It’s been 3 weeks now.
Our company has given me the go signal to purchase VfSU. Now I have a few questions before I get it.
1. How does the lic. work? Will it be 1 lic. per computer?
2. If I want to use it in the office and at home, how can I do this?
3. Is there a discount if I buy more than two lic.?
4. Will it work on a Mac?
5. What about upgrades? Are they free to those who purchased it?
These are just a few questions. I might have more but can’t think of any at this point.
I’m sorry you didn’t receive a response - I’m not sure why that would be.
1. How does the lic. work? Will it be 1 lic. per computer?
Currently our license system is the Installshield activation service. The license is tied to the machine you activate on - and can only be released by uninstalling the product. We are implementing a new license system that we hope to release with our upcoming service release in October. This new license system will suppport “floating” licenses. That means you can pick a machine to act as a license server, and install our product on many different machines. Whenever someone launches our product it will “check-out” a license.
2. If I want to use it in the office and at home, how can I do this?
We will generally give you an extra activation for your own home/laptop personal use
3. Is there a discount if I buy more than two lic.?
You would need to discuss that with our sales department. If you want to contact me via email I can ensure you get through to them.
4. Will it work on a Mac?
As of now we do not have a Mac build ready. We are PC only for the time being. We got access to a Mac version of the V-Ray SDK recently, so we will be moving to Mac - probably at our next major release.
5. What about upgrades? Are they free to those who purchased it?
Service releases are free to existing customers - these generally contain bug fixes and workflow fixes. Major releases, those that include new features, will not be free - but will be cheaper than buying the software for the first time.
Woohooo!!! Finally! Got our copy of VRay. One question…when I put the serial number and activated the program all the .visopt and all the materials went kaput. All that is left on the ASGVis folder was the (Options) folder.
