Anybody seen this stuff? ART - RenderDrive 3D rendering appliances, PURE accelerated ray traced 3D rendering PCI board what are they comparing?
I remember seeing this a couple years ago. I thought it was pretty amazing but I keep thinking there has to be a catch. I know a guy at SOM that says they use those ARTVPS drives. I’ll have to ask what’s the catch! :roll:

yeah, I knew a guy here at HDR that had his own PURE render farm…its fast, there is no dublt about it, becuause it’s all hardware rendering…
a few moths ago when we were trying to decide which render to go with, he was pushing to go with these render PURE…but the cost last I checke was somewhere up to 17k per specialized machine/card or what were they call it…now I don’t know.
but it just wasn’t feasable…plus that was before we looked into vray 
with todays fast porcesors and fast vray renders you can get a whole farm of dual procs w/ vray for only a fraction of the cost those things go for…and the speed is almost there…
the quality that was coming out was ok…

On Ebay they run for about 3k-5k but not sure how reliable they may be. I keep hearing about people loving shopping on ebay but I’m still scared. I once saw Maya 5 for $200 and Max 5 for $500.
