RADIOSITY & VRAY (ies)?

Hi guys, this is my first post here and a novice in Vray, just got started,
however i cant get the hang of it. Here are some queries I need to
know about Vray:

1. Can we use ies web files for Vray? If not, are there any additional
plugins to do so?

2.What would you guys recommend to use for Vray lighting…
*Standard Max lights
*Vray Lights
*Photometric Lights
*Ies Lightings

3. Can we also use radiosity solutions for Vray?

I only use ies web files in all my 3d interior works, since actual lighting
as per plan and specification is what we strictly follow. So all my lightings
is as per specified lights. Since i’ve got used with ies files, how can i apply
ies in Vray?

thanks!

hi. welcome to the forum!

1. you can use ies files in vray in the same way as you would in max.

2. it depends on the circumstances…

3. there’s no need to use radiosity when you use vray - you have a much better solution in the form of global illumination (gi) which is a lot more flexible, easy to set up initially, and gives much cleaner/faster results when configured correctly for your scene.

there are some really good tutorials here> http://www.vray.info and this is one of the best support forums for any software package that you’re likely to come accross!

a lot of questions you have will have been answered already, so it’s aways best to search first.

have fun!
