Recently Upgraded from Max2021/Vray6 to Max 2025/Vray7 and I can't figure out my color/Gamma/LUT settings.

Hi everyone.
I recently upgraded from 2021 to 2025 and the latest VRay and I’m really at a loss for how to make my renders look like they are supposed to. While I am aware of Gamma, LUT, VRay Frame Buffer Display Corrections and Color profiles. I have a very poor understanding of how these things work independently or together.
The only solution I have found is get it looking how I want in the Frame Buffer with Display Correction. Then save out with “No Conversion” with the OCIO and Save in Image ticked. The problem with that is if I send my renders to a render farm (ranch), they don’t come back looking correctly.

Is there any videos or tutorials on how all this works? Honestly if someone on this forum has deep understanding of it and wants to do a zoom call with me I’d happily pay for your time.
I just really don’t know how to manage this.

You might be overcomplicating things. I didn’t have to do anything for things to work correctly. Both V-Ray and MAX handle thing out of the box.

This is an Autodesk limitation that was fixed for 3ds Max 2026. Check the limitations of 2025 here. The workaround is to set only V-Ray to do the color management. Set 3ds Max Color Management to Unmanaged and follow this setup.

We will post an article about working with 3ds Max Color Management very soon.

That’s a good idea.
We’ll be notified when this tutorial is published?

Of course.

Is this article on Color Management completed?
When will we have the chance to read it?

Here it is.
