Hi, I am an architect and I have been asked to do more and more rendererings (usually just stills of interior arch. spaces) but I really don’t know enough about modelling in Max or the concepts of rendering with Vray. I am the only one in the office who uses anything other than SketchUp, and I could really use some better resources for improving my capabilities and workflow. I’ve read through as many posts as possible over the last year and have used the tutorials Vlado has set up. Can someone recommend a line of DVDs that would get me going on either modelling with Max (VIZ) or rendering with Vray?
I get so frustrated reading most posts because I don’t understand the terms and jargon used well enough to comprehend the discussion. Thanks in advance, and I hope I posted this in the correct category.
www.3dbuzz.com have some cool (free) video tutorials. not really geared towards architecture, but they go over the interface quite comprehensively. nicely done.
then www.3d-palace.com have some good free tutorials as well. cars, characters, … in the XSI section there is a tutorial on arch. vis, but i can’t seem to download it now for some reason …
you might also want to look into using AutoCAD for some modelling, and do rendering in MAX. more parametic and precise than MAX.
www.3dtotal.com have some training DVDs which look good. more to add to my shopping list…
yeah, Gnomon Workshop have some good tutorials on vray. i’ve only got the second one (interiors) didn’t realise they are a set getting the exterior one soon
alex, the best resource around for vray is this forum, if you have any questions just post them up and they will be answered really quickly, and if daforce doesnt spam your threads too much you might even get a decent answer!
If yuo do have any specific question on modelling in max/autocad just drop me an email
i think the amount of posts you have is proportionate to how much you know about vray…no wait that isnt right. a few of us have more posts than vlado. and we all know he and peter are the vray gods. hmmm. ok. maybe the amount of posts you have is proportionate to how much crap you talk on the forum. there. that sounds about right. but you could easily have 0 posts and visit both the vray help file and visit www.vray.info and know alot more than i do
