In the image you can see that the ceiling and light are being reflected much to bright in the mirror. I tried using a Vray override material. In the overide-reflection material even if I change the diffuse color to red. Rendering remains unchanged.
Also feel the same is happening with chrome (supposed to be) at shower enclosure
Thanks for our quick reply. I’m struggling with this and would hope to move past this issue
I have a Vray material on the ceiling. I have the diffuse as all white. The clg appears too dark otherwise. The rest of the settings are default.
I am using one Vray plane light up at the ceiling to light the room. small Vray sphere lights at the light fixtures. Possibly this config is part of my trouble?
Well thank you for that. It fixes the reflection in the mirror perfectly.
Unfortunately that takes all of the specular hilights out of the scene and makes it too dull. I esp. notice this on the counter top edge and on the chrome faucet sets that I have added at sinks since I sent you the file
There must be another way to achieve this without losing all of the spec. hilights in the rest of the scene.
he’ll need to turn it off in the light unless he wants the vray light to reflect in the mirror, which it will. I’d like to know the solution you come up with.
I ended up eliminating the V-ray light I had up near the ceiling. I relaced it with one Max omni using V-ray shadows centerd n the room. Turned off affect specular for the V-ray light at the ceiling light fixture.
I’m not sure if this is a good choioce of lighting setup or not. It got me close to what I wanted. The ceiling is reflected well, the light fixture is reflected as not as bright as it should be, but at least not totally blown out
I think you are on the right track with using a standard max omni. The only thing that I think your image is missing is some of the specular highlights that you would normally see when affect specular is on. I would leave affect specular on and turn it off in the materials that you dont want highlights on. Some times I will use two lights one for specular and one for diffuse where the specular light will be a lower intensity. I feel that images begin to look to flat without the fake specular highlights.
