Refraction/Gloss invisble on reflection

Refraction/Gloss invisble on reflection

Does your mirror material has slight glossiness, like 0,99 or 254/255?

Find

Just active Caustic on my light cloth shader

Wait, does it mean that you are using refraction in that material?

yes

But cloth doesn’t have refraction… translucency or opacity would be better choices here, surely?

Can you upload the lampshade material at all?

Inverted normals?

took a few tests but I was able to reproduce it with these settings:

Edit: I played a bit more with the settings and isolated it to the mirror material’s gloss being the problem.
The geometry, volume or thin, doesn’t seem to play a role. Romullus was right.

Looks like yet another light transport issue. :frowning:

The best solution in this specific case would be to restrain from using refraction in the lampshade material. Like Tom said, translucency or opacity should be the way to go.
