Hey, so the sampler info node in Max has an output called Refraction Vectors… Is there a similar version in Maya?
I want to be able to output ST information to then distort an image in Nuke as if it was being refracted…
Besides from creating an image plane with a UV ramp, and refracting this, what’s the best way to output refraction information?
Hey, so if you add a sampler info render element (not the same as maya’s sampler info node), under render setup / render elements. There is a type you can choose refraction vector just like in max.
Hey man, thanks for the reely… what version of VRay are you using? I do not have that AOV in 3.4
Yeah its only recently been implemented. You would need nightly access and 3.57 from April 26th or later. Email support if you want to get nightlies login setup.
oh I am going to have to look through the nightlies… but that might be a rather complicated situation as a lot of what we have right now is based on our tools working for this specific version of vray…
No other way around?
But I will give it a try… do you have the exact version number so I can look for it in the nightlies section?
Yeah here it is: V-Ray for Maya version 3.57.01, revision 27412 from May 18 2017
Oh, I can’t see that specific version of vray in the nightlies folder… On the folder for the 18 I can only see some vrayblender builds… going to email them then.
They have different branches of nightlies, you might be on a stable one.
