A/. If you are going to export them as a .rla or .rpf files, go to the Vray render dialogue, G-Buffer then select the output channels you want.
B/. To see each layer of the image - go to Frame Buffer and tick
‘Enable Built-in Frame Buffer’ and ‘Render to Memory Frame Buffer’.
This will bring up a window - Vray Frame Buffer allowing you to see the various rendered elements (drop down, top left) and save them out as necessary.
Further information can be found in the help file.
Hope this helps

I forgot to mention.
If you want to see specific layers in the Vray Frame Buffer - you need to select them on the G Buffer output channels.
thanks a lot…ill check it now…
ya its , that …but i dont see any option for rendering shadows , reflections etc as in render elements,
i need to render one perspective, along that i need to save shadow n reflections seperate…using render elements its easy.. when we add shadows n reflections on render element. ill get those two channels seperatly.. how ll i do this using v-ray…
pls help//////////////////
For shadows and reflections - go to the G-Buffer Output channels and select Reflect and Shadow.
When you render and the Vray Frame Buffer comes up, scroll down from the menu on the top left and select Reflections and then Shadow.
In my test this shows the
Sorry, in my test this shows the reflections and the shadows on separate layers.
To save them out for an animation, select the layers you want from the G-Buffer Output Channels and render the animation, saving it as a sequence.
which version of vray r u using,
i dont find shadows n reflect on mine…im using vray adv 1.09.03n
these r the only things i can found on my vray G-buffer
z-value,unclamped color, normal, material id, material color, material transparency, object velocity, node id, and render id..
nothing else…
Alright, there is the problem - I am using 1.45.70
I have been waiting for 1.45 for some time to have a good look at the new features - render elements is one and it works well.
At the moment, you will need the full Vray Advanced version to use these new features.

Easy fix mate,
Just log on to your account at the vray website and you can simply download the latest version of vray. And then you have all the render elements you need ![]()
ya .. i ll try…thanks
Has anyone got examples of how they merge the exported channels eg blending modes and heirarchy ?
thanks

Vray is capable of rendering far more layers than I show in this tutorial, but this will get you started.
I’m just trying to lear this my self, and I did some test w/ render passes and post comping in Pshop w/ different blending modes…
here’s my PSD file if you wanna take a look at what passes I used and w/ what blending modes…I also used the shadows pass method suggested in Seraph’s tute.
here’s the PSD (version 7)

great file cocolas! the level youve gone to is amazing! I was going to post a file that I had worked on just for my own education but its prehistoric compared to yours.
thanks…I’m happy w/ the overall result…but I think the layering system needs to be more efficient…I should’ve just mess around w/ contrast/brightness on the reflections and specualar layers, instead of duplicating them to adjust the intensity.
another thing I could’ve done differently, is the shadow pass…maybe only one shadow pass for the enitre image instead of separate shadow passes for the objects and floor…so the “BACK-RGB+SHADOWS” layer is just a hack since I wasn’t getting dark enough shadows…
I think for being my first trial with comping it came out pretty good…
thanks for cmment percy, and for the suggestions/tute Seraph ![]()
paul.
I had wondered why you copied those layers instead of adjusting them. but it was good for showing.
hehehe …yeah…

paul
PS: I’ll probably post an other version of it…w/ more efficient layering later…
Thats great, thanks for your help.
