render engine test

Hi everyone,

I wanted to do a test between Enscape, Thea and Vray for Sketchup.

I’m not going to enter into the technical aspects, I just wanted to do the same scene in all 3 renderers and see the results (time vs quality).

Here they are

Super interesting to see the comparisons!

And fantastic lighting! Would you be able to share your settings if possible

Yes - and what a good idea to do this

i’ve been wanting to do something like this for ages! So it’s fantastic to see you beat me to it, and it looks great! It is the perfect scene for the job, with both reflections, indirect lighting and color cast… great job!

it really puts into perspective how far Enscape has come… for a realtime engine the results are no less than mind blowing!

Great comparison! Nice to see and important for us to be aware of what still needs to be improved

Thanks for the comparison.

I’m just wondering what render engine you used with Thea?

TR1, TR2, BSD, AMC, Presto?

Was it Thea 1.5 or 2?

40 minutes for that scene at that resolution seems very long.

just out of curiosity, where do You see potential for improvements when looking at the images?

I think the indirect lighting might be filtered too heavy and needs more sharpness + the glass has a strange silhouette. This is to be expected because we draw transparent objects different than the two on the right, but I assume we can get better here.

Great  its the same stuff i noticed  but again, overall its very impressive what You have achieved!

Thank you! And we’re not done yet

unveliveble

Nice little test!

The difference in the soft directional shadows was where my eye first went, and reminded me of how V-Ray GI is still head and shoulders above everyone else. But still, great to see how well Enscape does against the other 2 engines.

thank you,

here are some screenshots

Thank you, I agree, enscape is amazing !!!

I used TR2 without denoiser but I redid the test with Presto and optix denoiser and I had a great result in 10 minutes, just like the vray test.

Amazing result.

For extreme accurate result in compense of time , Thea would be fine as it uses unbiased algorithms. A super fast result might be achieved using Enscpae and a balance choice would be V-Ray while time consuming setup is needed.
Also as mentioned if using Presto engine or denoising in Thea then it beats V-ray as it saves your time in engine and material set-up.

I think enscape has found the best balance between efficiency and quality. Keep trying

Thank you @minoo , I agree 100%

@tas_1985 , that’s true, Enscape is moving up in the world.
