There must be hundreds of posts concerning this topic, but i can’t find them.
We are looking for solutions to update/upgrade our current renderfarm of approx. 25-40 machines. Our solution has always been to ‘get more machines’.
Does anyone out there have any experiences with prebuilt systems such as Boxx, Renderdrive, etc. (i’m totally guessing here).
Where is a good place to start this search?

I cannot answer your question directly, but in our office we too are in the process of aquiring a renderfarm, and because of certain deals with Dell we are getting the dell Poweredge 1850 servers with 2xDualCoreXeons.
This brings me to a question that our IT-guys have asked me: Are there any known issues or pros and cons with running the Windows Server 2003 x64 (r2) OS with either backburner or vray (DR and network)?
renderdrive is something totally different. as for boxx i can speak from experience that they make a damned good computer. a daaaaamned good computer
