Render node shows as assigned but doesn't render

Hi,

So as said on the topic one of my render nodes shows as “assigned” but doesn’t render. I have updated all v-rays and license servers. I notised that in v-ray UI the broken node and my own pc still seem to be using an older version (3.4) of v-ray. May this be the problem? I also checked that any older versions of v-ray are uninstalled.

You can try starting a render to that node only (choose a relatively longer render that will allow you to see the error and troubleshoot). After you start the render job - navigate to http://IP_Address:24267/log where IP_Address is the IP address of the problem machine and check if there’s an error listed.
If you recently upgraded to V-Ray 3.6 SWARM will try 1st to transfer the V-Ray build tp all render nodes included in the rendering (might take some time) and after that, the render will start.

Make sure you’re using the same SWARM version on all machines (the latest one ideally).
Also - make sure you have VC++ 2010 (64 bit) and VC++2015 (64 bit) on the render nodes

If only a single computer has a problem - you can try a clean install of SWARM (1st manually uninstalling from Control Panel and after that installing anew).
You can also manually upload build - it’s useful nice when troubleshooting since it’ll show if there’s an error during builds transfer. To do that - from the computer with Rhino and V-Ray navigate to http://IP_Address:24267/vray-versions where IP_Address is the IP address of the problem machine and upload “C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\V-Ray for Rhinoceros 5\vrayappsdk\appsdk-win-minimized-NeUI-1.24.00-vray36004-20180113.7z” file (for Windows, for Linux or MAC use the Linux/MAC build from the same folder).

We tried to upload the latest v-ray 3.6 package from swarm versions tab. The procedure failed as v-ray hailed the following message: “dynamic linking error: Win32 error 126”. We found a resolution in a windows forum that suggests typing the following command to command prompt:

C:\windows\sustem32\ copy atio6axx.dll .dll

Should we try this out in your opinion. I don’t want to break the computer.

Seems like an issue with missing redistributable packages - try installing

VC++ 2015 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 - it’s best to have both x64 and x86,
VC++ 2010 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/Download/confirmation.aspx?id=14632

After that try uploading again.
