Render Samples Help

Hello,

I am trying to get a clean camera animation from this scene.
The render settings are imho already on production, still I have a lot of noise.

problem fields:
- grass
the grass is a vray fur object with a Vray hair shader on it. lots of grain in there.
probably I will try a vrayMtl without reflections. to get it more stable. and a even smaller noise threshhold in the render setting.

- clouds
this is a vdb inside a VrayVolumeGrid
the settings have been Step % 500
I will try 800 % and see if the pulsing lights inside go away.
Or might it be some GI settings?

thanks for some hints on how to improve

Nextcloud

just saw that I got the Volume Grid Settings wrong.
The lower the better.
So I reduced them to 20% for the next round

this link works
adding the URL via “post link” breaks it every time

Hey Martin,

GPU LC Subdivs should be at 1500 for this scene, you don’t need to go higher(Unless it is an interior scene, or if you are rendering at high resolution you will need to use a higher number, usually 3000 Max should work)
You can try the Samples Limit at 5000, then 10000 if you want clean renders, with 0.005 noise threshold..

About the flickering in the clouds, I have asked around. I will get back to you shortly

Best,
Muhammed

Could you please try with BF/BF GI to see if it solves the flickering issue?
Let me know if this works for you, we will need a scene to reproduce and investigate if this is about GPU LC

Best,
Muhammed

Hello,

https://pipe.green-cloud.at/index.php/s/dTRygF47ZcJsZxr

XP_6.mp4

I changed the GI engine to BF.
Still the flickering in the cloud is very strong.
Also the noise in the grass is too much at 5000 samples.

I will pack the scene and upload it tomorrow, so perhaps you can take a look at it.
the project is private and for fun, so there is no pressure.
Still I would like to see how to archive clean renders with this type of situation.

My setup is a 2 x RTX4800
would like to know if I am able to render out animations in HD with this kind of fine detailed environment.

Thank you for the scene Martin!
It was very helpful to us, the issue with the Clouds will be fixed. Other than that, I will send you an updated scene with some minor changes to sampling settings and the rendered sequence

Best,
Muhammed
