rendering errors

Hallo!

I try to render a GI sequence with a little bit more complex head with facial animation in standard grey.

It is impossible to get error free results. Even when I uncheck MAX-compatibleShaderContext black splotches/points come and go frame to frame over the whole face. So it is not possible to say what part of the geometry causes these errors. It seems that Vray is not very tolerant to geometry.

Any ideas (sorry but I am not allowed to show my work with these errors…)

What render method are you using? Direct comp, ir map?
Tried using animation pre-set like med animation or high animation?

what I am using

I use Irradiance map and Global Photon map in Singleframe mode because the geometry changes frame to frame.

I don´t think that it deponds on the render method.
After some corrections on the face geometry there were much less errors. but now I can´t do more.

Well, without seeing the result it does not make sense to talk about. But I am not allowed to …

I will try it on another scene.

Thanks

Global Photons work with VRay Mat’l only.
recreate the problem on some scene so we can see whats going on.

Lighting method would have been better to say, but yes photon mapping o nly works with Vray Materials

please, i really need a new version of vray. with the current version there are always crashes !!! and i have to finish my project this weekend !!

i am praying, praying , praying

try replacing the libmmd.dll that came with the new build with the older version that came with the “U” build.

i did it. the same… :frowning:

vray crashes while building the sdtree or during the rendering. the same scene was okay with the u build. but i can´t use this file with the u build and i have no older version of the scene :frowning:

I was experiencing a lot of crashes too, I did two things that have seemed to help. I am running max 5.0 so I have installed the max 4 installation of v-ray won’'t work I guess if you have 5.1, also I was still getting some crashes until I rebooted the computer since it has been stable. I still get the exceptions with vray lights that are too big when using interpolated glossies. May be of some help.
