Here’s a post I’ve been meaning to write up for a while now but seeing as it’s critical to the next lesson I’m creating I can’t ignore it anymore. For those that know me, you’ll know I love the realism Octane gives out of the box but the user demand for V-Ray is obviously a lot higher due to it bei…

[image] V-Ray Render Optimization - an in-depth Guide (call for Before/Afters) LOOOL! This is what you get being scarce with punctuation, Lele! Can you show me your result/ comparison, Octane is blue as all shit

hahaha wtf is going on, I’m losing my mind! [image]

That’s precisely what i got, and what one would get with poor/no importance sampling. The little, but very bright, orange sun disk is drowned out by the amounts of blue. Some ray will still hit it and trace properly, but most will end up in the blue sky. The HDRI was built PRECISELY to benchmark …

[Aces2] Look at the image linked: CG goes INTO ACES, AFTER the rendering is done. Case closed, hopefully.

I am both. The IronMan match was uncanny, given the tools at hand. And while i may sound an utter fanboy (all the more so i have an official role of sorts), i REALLY try hard to be as impartial as i can be. Nothing would damage Chaos more than a biased, or wrong, comparison with a competitor, in…

[image] do HDRIs need gamna-correction? Is there any indication when V-Ray RT GPU will support bercon maps? Apart from that I’ve come to the sad realization that I am completely retarded for not testing it in over a year…It’s unbelievable We’re using RT for more than a year and a half. In fac…

Oh, by the way, i endeavoured to convert some of the curves in OpenOffice (X goes from 0 to 1000, Y represents the corrected value) and i noticed i was quite wrong in supposing the curves were all 1D. In fact the camera curves ARE RGB, it’s the Gamma and Linear and a few minor others which are just…

I’ll make sure to thank you in the next lesson and anyone else in the thread who took part as I entered this thread with a biased, flawed and warped sense of what makes a render engine better. The moral of the story is use V-Ray RT from now on, hope bercon gets fixed and I’ll be back on my way! E…

[image] Using very low fur densities? I do know a wee bit of both physics and visual perception, but i fail to see where the color theory above has any visual impact, Gavin: show me a control image, one with and one without invisible colors (Like IR contamination, or UV spectrum bits), on a stand…
