Request for More V-Ray for Houdini Tutorials and Houdini 22 Official Support Timeline

Hello Chaos Team,

I am currently using V-Ray for Houdini and I really like the renderer.

I would like to request more official tutorials and learning content specifically for V-Ray for Houdini.

Compared with other V-Ray integrations, there seems to be much less current tutorial content focused specifically on the Houdini workflow. It would be extremely useful to have more up-to-date tutorials covering the latest V-Ray for Houdini version and Houdini 22, especially for:

  • V-Ray for Houdini basics and production workflows

  • Solaris/USD workflows

  • V-Ray materials and MaterialX

  • Product visualization and automotive rendering

  • Glass, liquids, metals and other complex materials

  • Lighting and realistic studio setups

  • V-Ray GPU / CPU / hybrid rendering

  • Volumes, Pyro, smoke, fire and fluids

  • Particles and other Houdini procedural effects

  • Rendering and optimizing large scenes

  • Color management / ACES / ACEScg

  • Professional animation and multi-shot workflows

  • V-Ray Render Elements / AOVs and compositing workflows

  • Best practices for achieving photorealistic results with minimal setup

I would especially appreciate tutorials using the latest V-Ray for Houdini version rather than older versions, because some workflows and interfaces have changed over time.

I also wanted to ask about Houdini 22 support.

I understand that V-Ray 7 Update 4 currently provides initial support for Houdini 22. Could you please let me know:

  1. What is the current status of full/official production support for Houdini 22?

  2. Is there an estimated release timeframe for the fully supported Houdini 22 version/build?

  3. Will there be any additional Houdini 22-specific features or workflow improvements before full production support?

I am planning my Houdini production workflow around V-Ray, so having a clear roadmap for Houdini 22 and more current Houdini-specific training material would be very helpful.

Thank you for your work on V-Ray for Houdini and for considering this request.
