Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

very nice work 40th, my favority is the last one, really nice design, maybe exteriors walls can be a little more dirty to give it more realism and a little more contrast to fit even better with the background..one question, are u using chamfer for the edges on the exteriors?

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Nice exteriors, but what a nice surprise with interior shoots! You did well, congrats!

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Stefan,
Thanks man!

Teofas,
Thanks bro! Yeah dirt on the Stone wall would be nice. I rounded the corners of the stone wall, to make it look more naturally.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

round the corners is very good descision for realistic renders, nice detail bro…other way to do this is giving some chromatic aberration with ps, it also soften edges

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Thanks. I rounded only the stone wall corners, all other walls are all sharp corners.
Yeah, i use chromatic aberration sometimes. But in this case i rounded corners of the wall because the wall “build” of big stones, so in real life it can’t have a sharp corner.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

The last two images are very impressive! I think the only thing that is of concern to me for the interiors is that on the fourth image, the books are a bit too eye catching. Maybe a different colour on the books or a less vibrant colour?

For the exteriors, the main things that bug me are the trees that presumably are photoshopped in. They need a bit of burning on the edge of the trees to blend into the lighting.

The stone walls could probably do with a bump map just to give a little depth. Not sure how you could solve this but I don’t really like how the stone wall seems to just stop when it meets the ground. I think it was Jackson that said something (in another topic) about making a unique texture where the texture meets the ground, then editing it in PS.

One more minor thing is the shadow underneath the car probably needs to be darker. This is something that I’ve been wanting to know how to achieve.

Overall, loving it! That last image is pretty much perfect!

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Steve,
Thank you for your comments!
The stone has displacement, with more contrast it more noticeable.
Yeah, Teofas also mentioned adding dirt. I do it when i’m not to lazy/not in a hurry.
Here’s an improved exterior, (Ps).

The difference in noticeable

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Definitely much better! Just the tree needs some burning on the left edge of the trunk.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

now this is what im talking about bro!!! with more contrast the image gets so much better, congrats!

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Thanks for your comments guys.
Btw I forgot to mention that for illumination I used only GI.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

To me the stone wall seems bumped incorrectly. I think if the bump was inverted it would look more realistic.

It looks like the stone is receding into the wall as opposed to protruding out of it. ::slight_smile:

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Nice renders 40th…the kitchen interior is excellent…

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Very nice images… i prefer the interior shots though. They are very clean and nicely put together.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

David, Steelers,
Thank you for your comments.
I also think that the Interiors looks better. Do you have suggestions/pointers to improve them?

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

wow i love those interior. but the last rexterior rocks.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Hey 40th,

You could try adding a wire frame image over the rendered image in Photoshop and mixing them together it can give your corners and edges a little more definition, you can get some interesting results using different sketchup styles…

But again I think you nailed it with your kitchen render… ;D

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

I think the thing that makes the exteriors less convincing is the lack interest in the flat walls…they just look a bit to clean and unrealistic. Maybe a bit more bump or up the scale of your bump if you have one there. I think some people would help liven up the scene as well. It is definately a good scene…just needs a bit more to make it more realistic. Maybe some blurring in the background or desaturate it a bit.

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

I did few renders mixed with SU wireframe. It can be very nice, but (IMHO) it doesn’t contributes to photo-realism.

Thanks David!

Re: Residential Exterior & Interior

Thanks for the tips Steeler, I’ll pay more attention to this next time
