Hi,
what are the plans to bring adaptive bucket splitting to vfh. This seems to be low hanging fruit to increase renderspeed in a lot of situations.

Hey @ronald_a ,
We will definitely have this feature in Houdini with a future V-Ray release - it’s part of V-Ray Core so bringing it over is, as you’ve mentioned, a no brainer ![]()
Best regards!
Hey @Gosho.Genchev ,
will this “future release” still be vray5.x? It would be really nice to have that in before vray 6 as this still seems pretty far in the future and I am very certain that we will not move to vray 6 right when it comes out.
I mean maya and max have it with vray5… just saying ![]()
This is controlled by SettingsRegionsGenerator::dynbuckets option, it’s hidden and was always enabled in Houdini.
So, it works for you in Maya, but not in Houdini?
Hi @bdancer , yes it works in Maya but not in Houdini (I just re-checked with the latest nightly). When you say it was always enabled I am wondering if we are talking about the same thing as this has been in Maya for just only two months.
I am talking about this: How Adaptive Bucket Splitting speeds up V-Ray’s rendering
@bdancer thanks a lot for enabling adaptive bucket splitting so quickly. This is awesome!
