I’m trying out vray_adv_52002_houdini19.0.455_30f57d7_18421_insta ll_mac.zip on macOS, and I’m experiencing a crash in the VFB. Or, at least, Houdini *reports* a crash, but doesn’t actually crash; nonetheless, rendering in the VFB stops, and if I close the VFB window, the entire Houdini UI is unresponsive and I have to force-quit Houdini and relaunch in order to get anything done.
I’m experiencing this with a super-simple scene - literally a cube with a V-Ray Material Builder assigned to it, with a single V-Ray Dome Light. Is this a known issue with the nightly builds? Is there a particular nightly that is known to be good on macOS with Houdini?
I’m using macOS 12.1 on an iMac Pro, with the Python 3 version of Houdini 19.0.455.

I have just tested it and could approve, but please confirm that it is working fluently on your configuration too.

Hi there,
I just tried 18488 for Mac with Houdini 19.0.455. The first time I tried it, Houdini crashed as soon as I interacted with the VFB. I’ve attached a crash log (hindie-2021-12-22-113659.ips.zip)
I relaunched Houdini, opened VFB, and this time it didn’t crash; however, when I double-clicked a geometry node to dive inside its network (with the VFB still visible and rendering), Houdini started beachballing, and I had to force-quit the app.
I tried a third time; this time the app didn’t crash, but I was unable to cancel the IPR render in the VFB, and the entire Houdini UI was unresponsive. I had to force-quit Houdini (again).
I tried a fourth time; I experienced the beachball / hang again and had to force quit. I’ve attached a spindump from after the force-quit (HoudiniSpin.txt.zip).
I have also attached the Houdini Indie HIP file that is showing the crash (VRayCrash.hiplc.zip).
As things stand, I can’t get anything to work without crashing or spinning
