RESOLVED:IES Light don´t appear in the render?

Happen to me a strange thing… I’m try out use Rhino 4 + Vray(demo) in a Win7 64 bit (need more RAM), and the instal work fine, but when I do a “test” render the IESlight don’t appear in the image!!! Did I have to do some plug-in instal for IES works? Or is something to do with graphic board (NVIDIA QUADRO) don’t render the IES light!

Do someone know what could be the problem? Do I’m missing something?

I noticed one more thing…

In the window of render progress show the message:

"Cannot open IES profile “C:\…”

And the GI don’t work too…

WHY ???

well, dont know about your case, but here, for some reason, IE light needs ridiculous high values to appear in an image… something like 10 to 20 million!!!

The values can vary dramatically between ies files for what power value is needed. Try to find files appropriate to your lighting situation (I’ve seen people try to use landscape lv lighting to light up a room in daylight, be sure you know what ies file you’re working with. This can help: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=10004.0). Also, if your lighting setup is daylighting, it can be difficult to get artificial lighting to show up. Try to set up an interior view with the sun turned off, and your camera set to a slow shutter speed/ fstop.

What kind of high values I need to put, and where?

The strange thing is that in my laptopPC the scene works fine…and in the desktopPC the IES light and GI don’t work…

Find the “ERROR”…

no IES light for 1.05

though you can fake it using an omni light with an applied transparency map light receptacle.

Type the command _visIESLight and choose an IES data file. There is no option for intensity control, so that must be done per IES data edit.

The problem in Windows 7+Rhino+Vray was the accent in the word “José” that you can see in the image on the window of render progress…

"Cannot open IES profile “C:\Users\José Rui\…”

I change the folder on “User” and the IES light start be found on the path folders that I have the files.

Have u used properly (i mean, with good results) the IES light in Rhino?

I´m asking because i havent used yet, and i often see very interesting results with Max and sketchUp images. NOW, I intend to use it. :slight_smile:
