Hi everyone,

Here is an image of a retail park I’m working on at the mo in Wales. Just about to go to final render and wanted to see if anyone could spot anything. I’ll be adding the ‘happy shoppers’ in post.

Another favour to ask:

Our studio has been shortlisted for an award here in Liverpool - Best Newcomer. Its the first time a CGI studio has been nominated for this and as we are still a small studio (just the 2 of us) it would be great to win this - not only to for us but for the CGI community also.

no worries - vote submitted - nice cars, but i think the plant need more contrast to match the rest of the render - the shadows just aren’t as dark as the rest.
Look at the shadows under the car, and then the shadows the plants cast on themselves.

I always found it quite hard to get good render with sunlight position right behind the camera, and you managed to do that really well… congratulations!

as for comments, maybe a little curve in post would add more contrast to your image… and crop the bottom part of the image a bit for better composition. That’s all I can think of!

i wanted to say “not bright enough”. but when i look at it again, everything looks so natural. very very natural. like it verymuch.

Change the sky. It does not match with the rest.
The design of the buildings is a desaster but thats not your fault i guess?

try to change the sun position.
get rid of 2D plants.

One thing that bugs me is that the sun angle is almost the same as the camera angle… it makes the image very harsh.

the cars are sugar3d BTW, i changed the materials to my own.

Nice Stephen! I agree that you did a superb job with the lighting, given its angle. The biggest thing popping out is the tiling brick on the far building. Other than that, hit RENDER.

adjust the white balance of the camera.

for me the brick looks a touch oversaturated. You could punch up the sky a bit too. looks pretty nice though
