Rhino 5 WIP can read all installed Rhino 4 plugins with no problems, so Vray should works correctly… it works good here.

Could the host OS also be a factor here? Stuff like UAC etc..?

No, Rhino 4 was not removed, and vray was already installed before Rhino 5 installation.
If could help i’m running XP 64bit.
