Rotating sun without automatic sunset/sunrise

Hello, when importing a c4d vrscene with a simple 360° rotating sun in Vantage, it behaves as if the sun set and sun rise automatically…

i joined a screen record.

How can i avoid this?

Regards.

Hello @f2b ,

Would you mind sending me a simple test .c4d scene so I can take a look at your current setup?

If I understand correctly what you are trying to achieve, you can add your sun inside a Null object and animate the rotation of the null object. Let me know if that works for you.

Hi Aleksandar, yes it’s as simple as this. But in Vantage the sun rises and sets automatically :face_with_spiral_eyes:

here is a c4d test file

Hello @f2b ,

From what I see when testing your scene everything seems to be working as expected and the result in Vantage matches the one in V-Ray. Please check the attached video below.

Indeed, when i do File>open to load the vrscene, the result is ok. My problem occurs when i do File>import. I will need to import several vrscene, so i can not just use the “open” method.

Hello @f2b ,

Thanks for clarifying that. The issue you’re observing is due to a mismatch in the coordinate systems between the two applications. Vantage is Z-up by default, while Cinema4D is Y-up. When you bring your scene from Cinema4D into Vantage’s default scene, it gets turned on its side, making the sun appear to set and rise instead of rotating correctly.

To fix this, first export an empty scene from Cinema4D. Open that scene in Vantage to set it as a new base scene. After that, you can import your other scenes into that base.

I hope this is of help.

Ohhh ok, now i understand the logic behind. I never noticed this at all before! Thank you for your patience and explaining me right.
