in Enscape 3.0 the Ray tracing feature was available for 10 series cards (1060 and above), but i see now the whole new bunch of features related to RT in the v3.1 are greyed out, i understand that DLSS wouldnt work for the 10 series but at least the features like the denoiser or the ray traced shadows would still work, i know GTX cards are not as optimal as RTX cards for RT rendering, but at least it could be an option u could tick or untick regardless the performance one can get.
Hi @LvonL
previous Enscape versions did not reflect which hardware rendering features are available/used for rendering. Therefore everyone had the RTX ray tracing setting enabled in their settings window, even if they were using incompatible/unsupported hardware.
However, Enscape does use software ray tracing since version 2.0. It is true that the Geforce 10 series (with above 6GB of VRAM) does support the RTX ray tracing functionality in general, but this feature is then also running in software. Back when we’ve introduced RTX support with v2.6.1 we noticed that performance with RTX run on Geforce 10 series is still way slower than our own software implementation and therefore didn’t support it on these gpus.
We might revisit that decision in the future, when other advancements in the Vulkan ray tracing specification allow for better performance on these gpus though.
