I wanted to check something because of previous issues, so logged in to my account.
Although I had previously cancelled automatic renewal I was sad to see that yet again (yes, this happened before) auto renewal had been reactivated. Not good.
Annoyed as I was I went to again cancel my subscription, upon which I was presented with a questionnaire.
I do not want to answer questions as a precondition to my being able to cancel my subscription, yet that is in fact the case. Very not good.
This behaviour is extremely rude. Why do you feel the need to do this?
Change it!
Meanwhile I will research what the law in the UK exactly states, although I am pretty sure it would disallow such a practice, unless voluntary and even then, after the cancellation has been processed.
No response as yet, so I’ll now request support to email me about this, or provide a contact link.
You have a duty to provide a one click cancelation procedure or alternatively to provide an email based method.
I’ll post here daily until this is done.
Also, don’t misunderstand me, this is a point of principle.
You may say ‘it’s just one simple question before cancelation occurs’, but the customer doesn’t know that. It could be the beginning of
a multiple question survey of who knows how many subsequent pages. It’s just wrongheaded corporate shenanigans.
You likely think I’m overreacting, but I know I’m not alone in thinking that this layer of ‘are you sure you want to cancel’, potentially ‘dark patterns’ bullshit is really, really irritating.
There’s a reason that laws were enacted to compel companies to make it simple.
I want to cancel my subscription via email. Please provide a link to support in order to do this.
