Since PheonixFD can be bottle-necked by the hard drive speed I thought I would buy one of those:
Samsung 960 pro ssd 2T
Or Intel Optane 900p
the samsung has a bigger throughput while the intel Optane has the best IOPS
So I would like to know what will speed up phoenixFD sims the most throughput or IOPS?
I will couple these with an Intel I9-7980XE,18 cores CPU.
I even heard that a couple of those hard drive in raid 0 can be faster than ram!

You definitely need throughput since Phoenix is writing big files - IOPS would help speed up reading and writing of a large number of random small files, so this would not aid Phoenix.

Cool I’ll go fo the Samsung then. Good to hear cause that one is already available and with a higher capacity (2TB). And it’s at the top of passmark hd benchmark.
I would be very interested if you were able to do a comparison test when you get the drive!
If you’re willing to re-do the same sim twice, once to your regular old drive and again with the SSD.
You may be able to help me get one too if I can present numbers

well. i have two ssd. old one and nvme. i can test, but it feels like you won’t have any speedup at all. i tested even with speedy ram drive - non. if i remember correctly cache writing is single threaded with 32mb per second at max.
