Any chance of seeing save to multi layer PSD in the near future? Other engines have this ability, and I would think most of us are usually heading right to Photoshop after rendering.
This is currenly not on our to-do list.
You should be able to use .exr instead of .psd with the same efficiency.

multichannel exr, under output. Should get you exactly what you need, keep in mind that you may need a plugin to parse that info (I have used and like http://www.exr-io.com/)
there is also a plugin that does vrimg, i think its Pro-EXR (was for sale, now free)
