Scatter doesn’t copy, paste

Hi, if I try to copy a scatter from one model to another, the scatter shows up in vray settings window but the guests do not come along with it. I have to reconnect the guests into the scatter after pasting it. Is this fixable or a problem on the SketchUp end? I have a model with 5 different scatters and it takes a while to reconnect all the guests after copying the files into another model.

Mac Monterey, SketchUp 2022, vray 6

Hello @jrozansky

Thank you for your question and please accept my sincere apologies for the late response.

The described behavior is intentional and not a bug. Otherwise, this action may lead to unwanted results, such as ‘unknown’ entries in the guests list.

Kind regards,

Hi @jrozansky ,

The main reason for this behavior is that the internal object IDs are changing when you perform a paste or import in SketchUp.
This is done by SketchUp and it makes it impossible for us to reestablish the guests’ connections.
A possible workaround might exist but we haven’t been able to find such so far.

Hi , since it has been some time, has a solution been found?
Thinking about a workaround when saving the scatter.vrmat it also saves the guests into a folder Guest Scatter where the guest are loaded from. Shouldn’t that address the ID issue?
If you have a “jungle” scene where you carefully curate every probability for 100 of assets . It’s a absolute pain to go and name match every single guest with it’s probability, especially when the guest get loaded in randomly and not even alphabetically. It makes making curated Scatter assets utterly useless. Watching the Cosmos having ready to use scatter presets in it’s library sets a precedent to seeing that it IS possible. So I wonder…
