Is there some sort of limit of how many vdbs can be in a scene at once?
As soon as we add more than 5 vdbs to a scene we get a ton of really large and obnoxious noise that we can’t seem to find a way to get rid of.
The current workaround is to render the scene in passes with only 5 clouds in each, but this is pretty tedious and time consuming.
Has anyone encountered this before?
The reason is that we’re doing some layouts with a bunch of cloud vdbs from Houdini (single frame vdbs, not vdb sequences).
I thought that initially, but there’s no GI being used in the scene, and bumping up the light samples (even by a lot) seems to do nothing to affect the noise.
Just to add for the devs: I noticed that if i use PROGRESSIVE rendering instead of BUCKET rendering the noise issue disappears. So its definitevly a bucket rendering method issue.
