This is part of a recently completed job. We’ve done two of these so far, but only one has been released to date.
Many models came from stock, but quite a few had to be completely rebuilt (we really need a quality controlled stock mesh site. Turbosquid is balls for that). All the materials were rebuilt from the ground up too.
The sets and colour palette/design choices were done by a stylist, in collaboration with the art director and myself (mostly by her though).
Original renders were 7K wide for large format printing.
Nice one ! And I agree with you on stock problem ! The only one that is okay in my opinion is http://www.designconnected.com/ But there’s not too much stuff there unfortunately.
Interesting to see your IM settings… 225 HSph. subdivs seems extremely high (to me) especially with the DMC settings you have. Although that said, I’ve also never gone lower than -3/-4 on the min rate, did -6 give you cleaner results?
Thanks AJ. I went to -6 for speed, following the advice in the Vray book and with some experimentation. The high sub-d were to reduce splotchiness and I can’t say I saw a huge impact in render times as I brought that value up so I wasn’t too worried about going that high.
