Hi,
this is olny a quick play with the Vray displacement modifier on a poly object, using the VrayComptexture to combine procedural maps. I think the result turned out to be interesting. Looks like some sea creature`s shell.
Cheers

It certainly looks interesting
Now you can try adding some SSS to it…
Best regards,

Very cool. Settings?
yeah, very cool, care to share the scene?
Yes pretty interesting result! 8)
wow, real nice maybe we’ll start seeing more anatomical renderings done in vray,
Tom

looks pretty cool already though.
Hi All!
Thanks for the comments! If anyone is interested, I`ll upload the scene tomorrow.
About the settings: RC3+MAX8, 1 poly object+displacement, 1 vraylight, a very poor quality irrad map+QMC. Nothing fancy really, even the reflections were turned off.
I used the Zdepth element to do the post DOF in Photoshop and added another layer for some extra glow.
I`ll go for the SSS as soon as I have some spare time (though I originally didn`t want to use it but now I`m getting curious)
Regards
G
wooh! it’s…it’s wow!
…the realness, it’s - wow!
yeahyeah, please do share that scene! very, very kind of you!
great work gaborcs!
scene, scene, scene, scene, scene ![]()
hehehe that would be awesome ![]()
Wicked renders, really interesting.
How much of it was the original poly model and how much is the displacement? Like is it just the smaller details thats disp or are all the tentacle thingys disp as well.
I guess we will find out tomorrow but curious as heck now.
I really like the lighting and look of the images.
Though I am anxious to see SSS, I don’t think its good for this image.
10 points.

Hi,
I uploaded the max file file, but don`t expect anything, it`s really really simple:
http://pixelimage.net/ftp/ftp/PixelForumFiles/VrayForumPics/SPIRAL.rar
The render of the SSS version has just crashed after a couple of hours, so I`m gonna upload it only tomorrow.
Cheers
aye, simple it may be but the results are quite fascinating ![]()
Thanks for the file will look a little later.
YEah this is pretty fascinating, the lighting is pretty good as well as the subtle dof and glow. You’re obviously pretty talented if you get this easily by using simple settings ![]()
Yeah is pretty cool. Just rendered out a small 640x400 one in about 25mins. Doing a 2560x1600, which i will fancy up abit in either PS or AE, and use it for a wallpaper for awhile ![]()
hello,
how do you guys achieve this sort of glow? something like neil blevins specular bloom technique? whta if there is no speculars in the image? do i just take the pic, copy in another layer an multiply somehow?
gaborcs: great image, one of the best i ve seen i a long time…glad its not archviz ![]()
Thankx
Martin
I cracked open the scene and added a little SSS for fun:
Thanks for sharing!

nice!
are you using a falloff map or smtl in diffuse?
