I’m just putting the finishing touches to this image and wanted to get a bit of feedback from the industry before sending it over to the client.
I’m not happy with the white “dry stone” wall at the moment, it’s displaced but I think I need to model it.
All suggestions and C & C’s welcome…

I like the image, it tells a lot about the location.
I’m not sure if the out of focus foreground helps though, I think I would prefer everything sharp, or about f11.
The stone looks very contrasty, is it really that white? It’s not bad though…I’d leave it like that, no need to model the stones.
The problem is that the image is very busy with details, I prefer the top half, because I’m interested in architecture, not peas and lemon slices, etc.
I think the palette gets too busy with the yellow drinks, red flowers, blue chairs, etc.
Also the chairs look like cheap plastic. While it’s lovely glossy refraction, I guess a non technical person wouldn’t be impressed. It would be nicer with wooden chairs.
I believe, when seeing the image, people will focus on the food instead of the environment, that’s what I’m trying to say.

Glad you mentioned the dof, I wasn’t sure if it was working myself. I’ll re-render with a smaller aperture and see how that feels.
The architect had been in touch and the stone will be changing to something less rough.
I’ll take a look at the palette and the chairs and see what I can come up with.

Great image! Makes me want to go there. I like the details in the front, they really make the image stand out and make it more ‘experiential’. I think the Depth of field is done well, as the elements in the forefront are still readable, but it also serves to shift attention further in.
The stone material doesn’t look right though. It also looks like it could be quite a low-res map?
Something that looks a bit strange after examining the image is the objects reflected in the glass. What are thery? It looks like there is something there that isn’t receiving any ambient light, so not reflecting.
Also waitress looks like a giant in relation to table.
Those are little things though. Overall I think the image looks great.

Stone will be changing, I’ll post an update when it’s done. The reflection is a peninsula done as an image plane, maybe I need to look at this again.

Nice, I agree with Plastic about the foreground elements and DOF.
Isn’t it better to rotate camera a little bit so the sea view becomes part of the image?
I agree with pixela - i’d pull back slightly so you’re not quite leaning over the table, widen the frame a whole lot and make the RHS all about the view. Keep the lhs where it is, but just push the other side right out. Feels a bit claustrophobic as is.

I’m waiting on a site photo to be used for the background, when we have that I’ll be changing the image format to show more of the view. Good to know we’re on the same wavelength…
