I have a material wrapper texture i’m using as a shadow catcher, but the objects need to still reflect the texture that is on the base (a road) so making a blank textureless material that feeds into the material wrapper is not an option. The issue i’m having is in the attached image.
Can you share a scene, or at least the portion that produces the problem so we can have a look? I couldn’t replicate it here and by the looks of it there’s a spherical camera that’s used, but I also want to check other things in the scene like the material setup, what the textures are etc.
Thanks, got the files. I don’t really get the problem on my end, though. I can see that the scene uses 3.60.04, but got a clean render.
Did you use DR when this happened?
OK, we finally got it. It’s a combination of a lot of things: the large camera FOV, the combination of a sun and dome lights, light cache and adaptive lights and the matte object. Even removing the texture from the matte object’s base material produces artifacts, although not visible in your case.
Until we fix the problem, you could disable the adaptive lights to get rid of the artifacts from render settings > overrides tab > lighting > light evaluation = full.
I’ve logged VMAYA-7907 for this issue, you can refer to this tracking number in the future to get updates on our progress.
