Shadows too dark

I want to lighten up on my shadows a bit, they are completely black. Thanx

Anyone on this? I read somewhere about a vrashadow plugin…Is that just 1.5?

If you use standard lights, you can use their shadow density parameter to lighten up the shadows. (If you use V-Ray shadows with these lights, you will need to turn off their Transparent shadows option).

Eric, if your shadows are black you may not be using any secondary bounces. Can you post an image.

Here ya go…See the people under the umbrella…I am using Irad/LC, -3,-1. Expo Exposure. etc..

Looks like you don’t have a VRaySky environment; you can try to add that and see if it changes anything.

Oh…This was the png file, for some reason when I ipened it up in infraview, the background was black…But the original image has a nice blue tone.

Yeah, it still looks like there is no GI environment though; what does it look like if you disable the lights, and just to the environment lighting?

Here ya go…I just have the vray sun…So I turned it off…Hmmm..I just saw that GI Environment (skylight override) is OFF, but when I chek it, I have a bitmap in the slot…Not sure why I did that…But could you explain a little…What does that checkbox do, and should the vray sky be in the box…etc…What if I want a picture to show up…Thanx again…Hey…almost 500 posts…What do I get? :slight_smile:

Dump the VRAY sky into the Environment slot in the VRAY environment over ride and you should be good to go. This works with the VRAY Sun so you will need both setup in your scene to have it work properly, and you will have to use a VRAY camera.
