The title says it all. I know there are lots of new features but I am mainly interested in the users’ experience with the initial QT Rewrite and the new VFB.
One of my main annoyances right now with rendering with Max + Corona is that the Slate Material Editor becomes sluggish while IR is running. This means repeatedly clicking on a Map output for the cable to appear so that I can connect it to a Material input. Also, selecting a Map can take 5 seconds for the Interface to show it. Has this behaviour been imrpoved with the QT rewrite or is it ultimately a 3ds Max problem?
I have read mixed reviews about the new VFB also. Is it at a state that it is better/more functional than VFB 1? Is it correct aesthetically? (function is crucial but we are creatives as well, and inconsistent padding/fonts can break the entire experience with a software). The VFB is the face of a rendering plugin and should be spotless imo.
Looking forward to your responses
You didn’t say what version you are running currently, so it’s hard to tell wether you would see much difference from Corona 14 Update 1. I for one didn’t bothered to install it, but i’m running V14 and there’s zero features that would be of interest for me between the two.
As for the VFB 2, like many i didn’t like it at first too, but i switched anyway and get used to it very quickly. Now i wouldn’t want to switch back to the old one, because it looks outdated and… kinda ugly. And if you’d look at roadmap for V15, you’ll notice that VFB 1 is about to be removed completely, so switching is inevitable, unless you want to be stuck on the the current version forever.
I am still on Corona 11 (Hotfix 1). My question is if the Material Editor is any better with the initial QT Rewrite (it is very laggy in Corona 11 while IR is running) and if the VFB 2 is at a satisfactory state.
I guess I will update and find out..
Oh yeah, materials that are rewritten in qT are much more responsive. The difference is very noticeable.
