SIGGRAPH 2006 Photos

Anyone that’s there (here) - feel free to add to the photo collection please. These photos are from Autodesk’s presentation pre-SIGGRAPH. The on-going joke of the night was how they (Autodesk and Alias) were up on the same stage together for the first time. The other joke was how no one in the industry really has much of a choice now…

They had a bunch of presenters. This is ILM showing their work on Pirates of the Carribean. They talked alot about modeling Davy Jones tentacles. This is Davy side by side with the actor:

I snuck out towards the end of the Autodesk presentation and found food and beer - and Rerender (Eric Boer)! He was the first person I recognized name-tag wise. Keep in mind there’s a lot of people from and it’s hard to read everyone’s name tag. So we got a good laugh out of our religion thread before we snapped this photo. I’m really not that short but he’s pretty freakin tall (I should add he’s standing on a slope and probably close to 6’4):

Someone with a normal height - Richard Rosenman. He’s a real trip. This is 4 beers later:

Bumping into several more people:

(myself, Throb (Rob Nederhorst), his Speedshape coworker from with eye accidently shut - Linden Vennard, Corey on the forum from ASGVis (Rhino and Sketchup plugin), and a salesperson that snuck in there.) Forgive me if I don’t recall names. This is 6 beers later.

The after party at the Roxy - all graphics people clubbing:

Rerender silo’d with the background. I couldn’t get off a good shot cause the lights kept strobbing. And there were more drinks:

crazy photos!

thats what you guys look like

Awesome post man.. AWESOME!!!

Good to see some of the regulars… people keep on posting pictures.. for the bunch of us that cant make it to the US photos are all we got :frowning:

Where are our boys ?

Best regards,
nikki Candelero

Probably caught at customs for trying to smuggle in too many dongles

hehehe

I could not find them and kept looking around all night. Supposedly they were there. But it’s difficult when you’ve never seen someone before. All I knew was: ‘Bulgarian-guy with blondish hair, muscles, and glasses.’

EGZ may have been there too. I’ve gotta watch my long-distance telephone bills to Norway when he’s probably standing right next to us… I still have no idea how much that will cost lol.

Anyhow - will head down to the exhibit today and try to grab some more photos for everyone.

All true, except the glasses. They are on his desk.
btw ( that description fits to Vlado )

Best regards,
nikki Candelero

Now where is that photo that always gets brought up when Vlado’s description gets mentioned.

Just think of CONAN the Barberian and you will get a close idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Best regards,
nikki Candelero

wow, looks like fun :!: maybe next year… :frowning:

Just think of CONAN the Barberian and you will get a close idea

You mean CONAN the Bulgarian!!!

rofl nice one

Man, I’m surprised Vlado and the boyz didn’t have to declare the dongles “non-WMDs” as God knows what the US Customs would think they are.

“Mr. President the Bulgarians are invading and they have 500 plastic dongles!”

The President, “Does Bulgaria have oil?”

Fight agains the Dongles

I can just imagine Bill O’Reilly chimming in - Classic !!!

Re: Fight agains the Dongles

rofl nice

hehe…
Very funny!

I remember from the last 2 Siggraphs that Peter and Vlado looked very tired. Very, very tired.

we must bring the fight to the enemy attack Bulgaria and their "Dongles of Mass Creation " - Laughing Laughing

I can just imagine Bill O’Reilly chimming in - Classic !!!

LOL!! Nice one Adam!

Ya, and anyone with a differing opinion to O’Reilly being told to “Shutup!” by Billy boy! He is such a caring, compassionate, nice man!

Bill O’Reilly reminds me of a Nazi propaganda pusher! I am sure the guy would like nothing better than to get rid of those he disagrees with.

“A captured audience is the best audience; they have no chance but to pay attention!”

Anyway back to work.

Way off topic but …

Funny you should mention that I don’t know if you are a fan of countdown - MSNBC 9.00pm on the West Coast. He has been having a mini war with O’reilly - because O’really? is a lying sack of s**t and Nazi defender.

Check it out:

“On the air in the last year, Bill O’Reilly has defended the Nazis from World War II on three separate occasions. … Yes, I wish I were making this up.” Ketih Olberman on Jay Leno

We live in a very very crazy World -
