I am rendering a simple SU scene and I have the sun on. When the render begins I can see the sun on the floor but in the final rendering it is not shown. Any ideas would be appreciated.

follow the step by step process:
1. Go to OPTIONS (O) Editor Menu
2. Go to ENVIRONMENT settings
3. Click (M) in the GI(skylight)
4. Uncheck “Override Sun’s parameters”, then click APPLY.
That’s all you need to make the SU sun visible in Vray render. Hope this helps.

sometimes vray forgets bout the sun! 
this happens especially after u change some marterials or fiddle with the option… in either case just press apply on the button which mike suggested above!

Thanks guys after some playing around with it I got it to work. It is correct that sometimes it shows sometimes it does not. Irritating. so hopefully they will fix this.

Scott, usually I just check and uncheck from time to time the “override sun parameter” settings then click “apply”. That works fine to me.

Thanks guys, I have the sun worked out now I think. Now my issue is with my settings I think. I can not get the circled area to render white (or close to white) without these blotches. Any Ideas?

Assuming you’re using Irradiance Map, increase the HSph. Subdivs to 100 or more until the splotches disappear. Increasing this setting has a directly proportional effect on render times so you’ll have to experiment to find a setting which gives you a good render time to quality ratio. Typically, the more poorly lit the space, the higher you will need to set the HSph. Subdivs.
