Hi,

I do all of my modelling in SketchUp, then import the skp files into 3ds Max to produce renders. All the materials currently end up as “physical” materials in 3ds max. I then have to manually override all the textures & replace them with v-ray materials, and the corresponding diffuse maps.

Does anyone else use this workflow, and is there a way to not have to re-do all of the re-texturing in max?

Many thanks

You can export as vrscene from sketchup..

Hello @Neil_FD , thank you for posting your question.

In case if you want to transfer information from one host application to another including V-Ray data @kenancakir is right - your best option would be V-Ray Scene (.vrscene) format.

You can read more about it here in our documentation:

- [Proxy Scene V-Ray for SketchUp link](https://documentation.chaos.com/space/VSKETCHUP/109778720/Proxy+Scene)
- [VRayScene V-Ray for 3ds Max link](https://documentation.chaos.com/space/VMAX/113575459/VRayScene)

If you have any additional questions let us know.

One additional note here - vrscenes exported from SketchUp can be imported directly in Max by the Enscape .vrscene importer.

It isn’t guaranteed that all your material data will be handled perfectly but it will certainly give you a better starting point.
