small loop with interpolated glossy reflection

Been tricking with interpolated glossy reflection. The values need to be realy high. There is a bit of flickering due to the div-x codec; it´s not the interpolation!
Hope you like it

What kind of settings did you have to use to get that and how did the rendering time compare to just doing it the regular way with low subdivisions?

V Miller

did you use a pre-saved solution or calculate a solution for every frame?

I didn´t even try without interpolation. I dont know what it´s like in an animation. Allso, using subdiv together with motionblur can realy slow things down, I think. maby I try it.

sttings in the material:
subdivs: 50
min rate: -3
max rate: 0
clr tresh: 0.12
nrm tresh: 0.2

Rendertime: full pal was about 9 min/frame on 3 ghz pentium 4, 2 gig ram. I think it´s OK.

hope this help.

i hate interpol. glossy refl. in animation..they always have areas with flickering… i normly use the normal glossy refl. …

I did a test using only 16 subdivs as you proposed vance3d, and the result was OK and slightly faster at least when not so much motion in the scene.
thanks for that!
