Hi ,
it’s seems that i have a problem with displacement map and water level.
I used a gradient radial map to make a perforated mesh metal. But as you can see something is going wrong and what i get it’s not a perfered geoemtry effect.
I need help, if you can hel me.
Thanks a lot
It should be possible to do that with displacement too, but you have to set it to world size instead of screen size and set it to very small size. Do that only if you have plenty of available RAM, because you will need it :]
I’m trying to do exactly the same thing - one hour later and can’t figure it out.
I have correctly mapped my gradient map onto a plane, I can get the displacement to work but can’t figure out how the water level works. Is there a help file somewhere?
My displacement map is black with white where the holes should be.
I set the displacement to -5mm. What should I set my water level to? so that the cutoff begins at 2.5mm?
Currently the cutout is removing the screen as oppose the the last part of the displacement i.e. I’m left with a load of circles. If I invert the displacement map it works but The screen should be where I place it and the holes should be the part that displaces.
Yep, it doesn’t matter what color is being displaced as long as it does what you need, right? ;]
I think that water level has some issues in its implementation, that makes work with it slightly less intuitive than it could be. I have reported that on mantis, so maybe that will be changed sometime in the future.
