alright, i’ve been fooling around with another old project here and tried to apply some of the suggestions from my last posting. i’m really only looking at the lighting and materials here; the modeling is from an old project and i haven’t done any refinement to that.
thoughts on this one? i was kind of surprised at the difference in the apparent brightness between the two views. they are both rendered with the exact same lighting. i haven’t switched to v1.5 yet, but i am looking forward to trying out the physical camera.
cheers!
I think you should upgrade to 1.5 for this model because a Vray Sun/Sky, or maybe an HDRI mapped dome light could make the light coming in from the outside a lot more dramatic.
alas…i am anxious to upgrade, but the studio i work with often uses respower for production renders and as far as i know they haven’t upgraded yet. until they do i am stuck in the dark ages…
Actually, Respower has upgraded to 1.5RC2. It comes with a warning, though; Here’s what Early had to say:
"Yes, 1.5RC2 is installed. You may also still use 1.47.03. Please bear in mind that our understanding is that as a release candidate (RC), it is *not* an officially released version of V-Ray, but rather an open beta.
