I’d like to preface this by reaffirming how much I enjoy this software. We have been using it for all scales of projects and as long as you follow some basic model hygiene processes, it is a great bit of kit. There are some aspects I think would help elevate the offering. I am part of an archviz team at Warren and Mahoney Architects (approx. 350 strong firm), as a real-time specialist. I assist our design teams with their SketchUp/Enscape needs and am regularly taking their models, elevating the quality and producing a variety of visuals. I also work in the “high end” part of the field, using 3dsMax/Corona and the various plugins. So, these ideas come from across the visualisation spectrum, with a view primarily to balancing speed with quality. I’m sure you guys have some big stuff planned, and I may have missed some obvious things too…
- Scattering - please add in the ability to “brush” masks, rather than just using curves or surfaces. If possible, using images as masks would be great too as well as “point” placement ala Skatter for SketchUp. I’d really like some degree of control over scale/density falloff too.
- More 4d characters - at the moment, it seems to be limited to about half a dozen senior citizens which aren’t useful. This would be a huge plus for us.
- Improved quality of the traffic tool. Currently, it is incredibly painful to get vehicles to traverse terrain that isn’t dead flat.
- The ability to remove the cameras that come across from Enscape. These just clutter the viewport, and we never use them.
- The ability to hide cameras in the viewport, just like you can with lights
- Invisible lights that still cast light
- Specific material masks would be a great addition
- I’ve always thought being able to filter by eco-systems or similar for trees etc would be great. Eg; lush green trees, street trees, wild grasses etc.
- Multiple viewports and being able to detach one for multiple screen setups. I appreciate this may be taxing on GPUs, so even if it is a basic non-rendered view, this would be helpful.
- A decent AI enhancer that isn’t resolution restricted (within reason). This will just save us having to go through this process as an extra step.
- Being able to set a photo as a background would be epic for matching to photos, and another reason to avoid the nightmare of 3dsMax!
Loving the latest update, the Cosmos store is really great, the software feels super stable and I am blowing minds on a daily basis with high quality imagery in a fraction of the time - so thanks!
