I’m considering downgrading to a larger hdd for all my project files.
I’ve exclusively used ssd for all my storage needs for 5+ years now, but find myself wanting to be a bit more economical, cost-wise, with a new PC build.
Has anyone noticed any particular downsides or loss of speed between ssd and hdd storage when working in 3dsmax/corona?
Biggest is a loss of speed happens when opening scenes and parsing renders, especially on big scenes. It becomes infuriating when you just need to do few small changes. Just opening scene and starting interactive takes longer than fixes themself. In our case it’s even slower, we work from local storage server a lot of the time. Fast one, but I still prefer working locally on SSD. So I keep ongoing projects on workstation and move them on to server when I’m done or ran out of space.
I would recommend something similar, get few big HDD’s for storage and at least 1tb, preferably 2tb SSD for active projects.
