SSS opacity

I’m doing some feathers with Yeti & want to use the SSS shader as on the polygon cards im instancing as it looks good. but I want to use a map to cut out the feather shape ,like I would put in the opacity slot on a vray standard shader. Can this be done on the SSS shader ?? I couldn’t make it work

Thanks
Chris

If it’s a single sided card, you can use 2-sided material. sss is for solid objects, 2 sided for very thin objects.

You can connect your sss shader to a first coat layer of the blend material and leave the base layer blank, you can use your opacity map as a mask for the coat 0, this will make it transparent along the mask.

ah, cool.. of course, I’m having a slow day! Thanks guys

With this said though, I’d really wish sss material had all proper slots so we don’t do the wizardry.

Thank you guys - I’ve just added this as a feature-request into our system.
I will notify you when we have it.
