Strange LC in 1.5

I am rendering the same scene on two computers. Computer A has 1.5.
Computer B has 1.47. LC is set to 400 subs on both. Computer B renders
as expected. Computer A takes forever to build the LC. I actually canceled it after about 30 minutes and very little progress. Is there something different with LC in 1.5 ? Any help would be great. I really do need the speed of lightcache.

BTW…both computers are equal set ups. And the scene is pretty heavily populated. Almost no white.

Regards,
Mike

When you open an 1.47 file in 1.50 it gives a warning that says you may need to adjust the QMC thresh. Not sure how much.

You know, you are right. I guess I did not think about that affecting the building of light cache. Ill adjust and try again.
 Cheers !

The QMC engine has probably been heavily re-written for 1.5, so the two different vray’s arn’t compatible with each other

Mike, did you manage to solve the problem?

Also, are you using VRayFur in your scene? In the 1.47 builds, the fur did not respect the dynamic memory limit and took as much memory as it wanted - this was incorrect, although it did make the fur calculate a lot faster. This is now corrected, but you may need to increase the dynamic memory limit to reduce the render times.

Best regards,
Vlado

Hi vlado.
Nope, no vray fur. But the scene was created using 1.47. So I created a preset in 1.5 and merged my scene into it. Worked like a champ. I will be
testing the new build on one of the computers at work over the next couple of weeks. And of course Ill be spending way to much time at home
using my personal copy. :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW…I used the vray blend mat today. Vey fast. I love it !

Mike
