strong shadows...

Hey all,

Can someone give me a clue about getting strong shadows out of Vray in exterior scenes? I usually set up one Vraylight and use GI and Skylight. However, for the rendering I’m doing now, I need REALLY defined shadows, because it is critical that some recessed panels read strongly.

So, anyone have any ideas?

thanks,

dave

if you are using the Avanced version of VRAY try some of the color mapping options.

Hi Davehitt,
Try using a Direct light for the sunlight with VRayShadows.
Then it’s a matter of balancing your GI skylight with the sunlight…in your case, you may want to have a low GI environment light and a higher Direct light multiplier.

Thanks, Vu, I’ll give your suggestions a whirl. One thing I’ve never quite understood is whether there is a direct relationship between the strength of the multiplier on the direct light and the strength of the shadows it produces.

I’ll also check into the color multiplier, although I’m not sure how I should be tweaking it…

BTW, Vu, your work is simply astounding…
