DR stopped working after installing Subscription Advantage Pack for Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 64Bit on vray2.0.
In the task manager of the DR machines you can see how the spawner loads the 3dsmax process,
after some time the process quits and is started again by the spawner.
This happens in a loop.
After uninstalling the advantage pack and restarting the service, DR works again.
I tried it on six PCs.
Anyone else has this problem?
Hi tammo,
I cannot reproduce the problem here. Is there some else product installed on the DR hosts that could possibly be messing with the distributed rendering?
Also on the DR host machine in the user’s temp directory, which should be something like: “C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp” there are some files “VRSpawner.log”, “vraylog.txt” and eventually “3dsmax_minidump.dmp”, could you send them to alexander@chaosgroup.com, maybe they could provide some info on the problem. And in the 3ds Max program files folder (“C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2012” for example) there you must have two files “vraydummy2012.max” and “vraydummy2012.xml”, which come with the V-Ray installation and are mandatory for the DR host to work properly, could you check and send them too please?
I have notice that my nodes have been timing out when I go to restart them. This has never happened before, but they do start when I start the service a second time.
Vlado, did you manage to take a look at this? Just spent 3 hours messing about with user permissions to no avail, then spotted this post, uninstalled the advantage pack and slaves work again! What’s going on??
Yes, but unfortunately like the others in the thread, we could not reproduce it. Can you show me the Max.log file from the this folder “C:\Users\[…]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2012 - 64bit\enu\Network” - it might contain some useful information.
Hi!
Has this been fixed, or is there a way how to make the subscription pack work with DR?
Unfortunately i couldn’t send you the log-files because i had already uninstalled most stuff in order to get the current project done.
Unfortunately we have not found a fix for the moment. We did find out that running the spawner manually (and not as a service) has higher chances to work.
Ok, so i just have to place “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2012\vrayspawner2012.exe” in the autostart menue on the slaves?
Should the service be disabled when you do that?
