Hi Abraham,
Can you please give an example of your setup with multiple dome lights? Also can the final result be achieved without a second or multiple active ones?
Submitted on AHA Ideas.
Sure!
1 Dome HDRI for just the sky plate (no Diffuse, no reflection, no spec)
1 Dome HDRI for primary lighting,
1 Dome (solid white color) as a “fill” light usually just diffuse.
This gives maximum control for the look and to be able to control the background independent of the rest of the lighting. Sorely missing this when I use vantage.

Currently you can use the Background rollout in the Environment tab in Vantage with a custom image that replaces the one from the Sky rollout. This will be a workaround for the dome light that is just for background plate(unfortunately this will not go through Live link and you have to do it manually in Vantage). I am guessing that the solid white color domelight is to just brighten the overall image, correct? I do believe you can achieve a similar result if you use the Filmic tonemap color correction. Do you mind trying the suggestions yourself to see if they are relevant to you? Or just send me a simple sample scene with the setup to test if what you are describing can be achieved easily with the current tools available in Vantage?
Best regards,
Aleksandar

The background rollout could work for this. True. It would be great to have this work with Livelink somehow.
The solid white color dome light is used to brighten shadows when using an HDRI that might be too (contrasty). I would prefer to have a way to boost the GI contribution (intensity not bounces) but this has been turned down before.
I have found the filmic tone map color correction cannot correct this without “washing out” other areas. The dome light is MUCH more predictable.

Yes, I understand. One other thing that comes to mind is to try to use the Ambient light option in Ambience settings(Environment tab), but that would brighten everything and make things look flat.

Yes, I have used the ambient light prior but the effect is not great…
Time permitting, I will try to create an file/ reference images of the effect I’m trying to recreate in Vantage.
