Tell Vray to NOT save down certain render outputs.

I often do high res automotive work, and often have to rebuild parts of the photo backplate also…and do set extensions. So my render can easily be 12k+ for a full CG set build render. The retoucher I work for likes to keep things simple, which means handing over multi matte Ids and a beauty in PNG format. (They dont like 32bit, bloated comps etc). So what I get in the VFB is what I send over to comp. The issue I sometimes have, is saving down the effectsResult channel and some IDs, also comes with the “non effects results” beauty and a denoiser pass, and a bumpnormals pass…This can sometimes take longer than the render itself to save all of these down, and I dont need or want them.

Could there be a way to tell Vray to only save exactly the passes I need? If it takes 5mins to save a huge png for the effects result, it means it will take 15mins to save that, PLUS the layers I dont need. I can render manually in the VFB, and tick “dont save render”, then manually save my layers out, but thats not practical when I have render layers.

I will test changing the comrpession levels of the files to see if that helps. I think I would trade off some png file size to not have to wait 30mins to get the 4 layers I need.

If by certain elements, you’re referring to the VRayDenoiser’s additional elements, there’s an idea about it logged here, where vlado has linked another thread for its discussion. We have already added an option not to include these extra elements in the internal builds.

As for the extra VRayDenoiser pass, you can remove it by setting the VRayDenoiser element’s mode to “Hide denoiser result channel”.

Nice…ok yeh thats one down. Just need to be able to NOT save the bump normals and the main render. Id only want to have the effectsResult saved down in this instance, if possible. Thanks for the feedback about the denoise element.
